专家简介:周珊,美国休斯顿大学地球与大气科学系研究助理教授,博士生导师。博士毕业于美国加州大学戴维斯分校,主要在室内空气污染、化学过程及二次污染、大气有机气溶胶理化特性及演变规律、以及生物质燃烧气溶胶等方面开展独创性研究工作。通过外场观测和实验室实验等方法研究空气污染物的源汇机制、化学转化、及其对人体健康及气候的影响。主持、参与了多项美国能源部、美国国家航空航天局、美国德克萨斯州环境质量委员会、德克萨斯州空气质量研究中心、艾尔弗·斯隆基金 (Alfred P. Sloan Foundation) 等项目。近七年共发表SCI论文30余篇(一作/通讯十余篇包括Environmental Science and Technology等国际知名期刊),合著英文专著2部。 2020年入选麻省理工大学卡耐基梅隆大学土木与环境工程学术新星(MIT CEE Rising Star)。
Abstract:
People typically spend nearly 90% of their lives indoors, two-thirds of that within residences. It is vital that we understand the processes that control indoor air quality. Only in recent decades has chemistry been recognized to be important to indoor air composition; previously, air exchange with the outdoors was the only factor considered. The chemistry of gas-phase oxidants and their precursors play a central role in the outdoor environment but their importance in indoor air remains poorly constrained. Recent studies show that photochemistry can affect indoor oxidative capacity. However, knowledge gaps remain. The largest uncertainties in quantifying the role of indoor photochemistry on indoor oxidative capacity are the indoor ultraviolet (UV) photon fluxes and the magnitudes of precursor sources and sinks. This talk will discuss results from combined field, chamber, and model studies that address these knowledge gaps.
